 I read this in a BBC article and it  speaks for me:

&quot;Use of the term &#039;golliwog&#039; is completely unacceptable. The fact that Carol Thatcher doesn&#039;t know the word is offensive is worrying. Whether it is said off air or not doesn&#039;t really matter.&quot; 

It reminds me of the far right in America, who call Obama &quot;the magic negro&quot; or major papers in the southern  U.S. that did not have his winning the election in their headlines or even on their front page, the day after the election!

It is truly hard to believe this kind of attitude is still  common in multi-cultural Britain and multi-cultural USA.  Sad and a little scary.</description>
